Beat On A Budget

IMG_9734 (1).PNG

Lets Face It…

Shopping for makeup can be pretty expensive! Especially if your keeping up with the whose who in the beauty industry or all the Celebrity brands and their constant new product launches. Lets not forget about our beloved Beauty Influencers who give us their tips, tricks, favorite products, must have’s, ETC! I mean lets be honest it can get a bit overwhelming, Right? And if your a Makeup enthusiast like me, You want it ALL (lol) while your budget is saying Nah Sis! Trust Me, we’ve all been there.

I will splurge a little for my Clients though (after all that is what they are paying me for😊) but for myself I just keep it simple and bargain most days. I have my favorites & my go to’s just like everyone else, which are for the most part the only products I never cheat myself out of.

When it comes to makeup though you have to create or find your style, if you have been following me along my journey as a Makeup Artist you may know what my style of makeup is but for my Newbies (Welcome), I am a Natural Glam Girl and I love natural glam enhancements! I keep my personal kit to fit that style but my professional kit will always range so that i can accommodate each client’s individual style. Knowing what yours is will help make your shopping experience less complicated while also keeping you within budget.

Here are some helpful shopping tips:

  1. First and foremost set a budget for yourself.

  2. Try shopping during the holidays, when stores are having promotions, and during major sale events because there will always be BIG DISCOUNTS on products!

  3. Write down a list (if possible) of products you’ve already decided on purchasing.

  4. Get familiar with the store/stores you plan to shop at, this will allow you to go directly to what you came for or allow you to locate the areas of the products that are within your price range. Instead of you browsing the entire store picking up items that “catch your eyes”. Save yourself the time & your coins$ ! Say for instance your going to ULTA, ulta stores are usually divided. High end brands on one side while more affordable/drug store brands are on the other.

  5. Always shop for your style of makeup, for example if you don’t like bright colored eye shadows DO NOT PURCHASE THEM, thinking that you will “try them out” because trust me more then likely you wont & it will be a waste of your money! only get what you like and things you will get use out of.

  6. Lastly, keep track of what your purchasing so you wont go back and get the same thing again (ughhhh, i hate that! I’ve definetly done it more times then i would like to admit lol).

NOW ON TO THE GOOD STUFF, The Product List!

Why I Chose Esthetics

I always say that Esthetics (Skincare) chose me because I had no plans to take on a career as a Esthetician. I always wanted to become a labor & delivery nurse but I could never stay dedicated to my classes or focused long enough to be consistent with nursing. God was showing me that a career in nursing wasn't for me....

My first love has always been Makeup Artistry but I was scared. I didn't believe I could build a successful career in makeup. I expressed my fears with another artist and I will never forget how encouraging she was!

It amazed me because I was not expecting her to tell me to GO FOR IT! She told me don't let my fear of not getting clients keep me from doing what I love and don't let the fact that there are so many MUA's to discourage me.

From that moment on I started taking my artistry more serious and dedicating myself to it. My main focus was always makeup. I never thought about skincare until I started analyzing pictures of my finished makeup looks. I wanted to have flawless work so I began thinking of ways to improve my artistry. One day, something clicked! I realized in order to have flawless makeup, my clients needed to have better skin! On that same day God sent me a message. I heard an ad for Steiner Institute of Esthetics on Pandora which is a school that offers an esthetician course. An Esthetician is a person that specializes in skincare. The timing was perfect!

I called them and made an appointment with an advisor the next day. I was enrolled for the very last spot in the night class which started the following day!

I couldn't believe how things worked out! It gave me a warm feeling like this was all meant to be. I stopped questioning God and started having faith in him.

Things did not go the way I planned because God already had a PLAN for me as a Makeup Artist and a Skincare Specialist. I fell in love with skincare which in benefited my Makeup Artistry. I'll be a graduate from esthetics school in august and my plan is to open my own beauty bar.

And one day she discovered that she was fierce, and strong and full of fire, and that not even she could hold herself back because her passion burned brighter than her fears.
